According to the organization, loosening this regulation would jeopardize the country's strategic freshwater reserves and periglacial ecosystems. Diego Salas, Greenpeace Argentina's innovation director, warned that altering the law would mean "handing over the water of Argentines" and represent a serious setback in the face of the climate crisis.
