Descripción: Santiago, Chile – December 22, 2025: President Gabriel Boric led the inauguration of the National Space Center (CEN) this Monday at the Los Cerrillos Air Base, marking a historic milestone for the country's science and technology sectors. This new 5,800-square-meter complex is established as the first national HUB dedicated to space development, designed to bridge the State, academia, and industry. Among its strategic capabilities, the CEN features a 600 m² "Clean Room" where seven 23 kg satellites and one 200 kg Earth observation satellite will be manufactured. Additionally, the facility houses an autonomous mission control center and a data science laboratory equipped with a supercomputer to process geospatial information using Artificial Intelligence. The initiative aims to guarantee Chile's technological sovereignty, reducing foreign dependency and providing key data for sectors such as mining, agriculture, and climate monitoring.
