Canelones, Uruguay – October 27, 2024: Uruguayan President Luis Lacalle Pou cast his vote in Canelones for the national elections, marking his observance of constitutional mandates to refrain from partisan activities while in office. Lacalle Pou emphasized an «orderly transition» as he prepares to leave office on February 28. Responding to José Mujica’s support for cross-party security agreements, he agreed on the importance of consensus and addressed his stance on Uruguay’s pension reform law. Lacalle Pou has yet to decide on his post-presidency plans.
