Buenos Aires, Argentina. August 19, 2025: Racing Club (Argentina) hosts Peñarol (Uruguay) in the round of 16 of the Libertadores Cup, having lost to Peñarol 1.0 in the first leg. Gustavo Costas’s team must overcome the deficit they suffered in Montevideo and must go for a win at the «Cilindro» (Racing’s home stadium), knowing that a one-goal victory would force a penalty shootout, while a more significant victory would allow them to advance to the quarterfinals. Elimination from the Libertadores Cup would be a severe blow for Racing. It would leave profound emotional consequences, with strong questions from fans and a continued difficult second half of the year.
