USA-Taxes to Argentine Steel and aluminium
Washington, D.C., USA – February 12, 2025: U.S. President Donald Trump signs an executive order reinstating a 25% tariff on steel and aluminum imports, including from Argentina. Despite maintaining strong diplomatic ties with Argentine President Javier Milei, Trump emphasized that «there will be no exceptions» as part of his broader strategy to support struggling American industries. The new tariffs, effective March 4, are expected to impact global trade dynamics, with Argentina ranked as the seventh-largest aluminum exporter to the U.S. The announcement led to a 2.65% drop in Aluar’s shares on the Buenos Aires Stock Exchange.
